Zealand Falls

I wasn't sure I was going to be able to continue after the long day before but I woke with high spirits. I had secured a spot to stay on if needed but was ready to hit the trails once again. My legs were sore but I knew the worst was over. This day's hike was back to intermediate status. I had a feeling of satisfaction having made it through the roughest part and was less nervous about the upcoming hike. In addition to Peggy, we now had another hiker joining us. The only hiker I met that I could actually out pace. He was also a section hiker on the AT, Moonwalker. He was only slower because he had just had both knees replaced six months prior to the start of his hike. This day turned out to also be a long one, about 7 more miles with more up and down than I had hoped for my tired sore legs. But the falls were worth it. My aching feet were quite happy to soak. Along the trail.
A side trail for a quick view.

First sun over the mountain hitting the falls.

Zealand Falls is one if not the most popular hut. It has several short trails in that make it easier to get to than others. There was a party of 20 people who all hiked in together that Friday night. We thought it may be a loud night with the full house, capacity of about 36. I had a middle bunk so someone below and someone above me. It didn't stop me from going to bed once again at 7:30 that night.
